HUMBLE THE POET: Life begins outside out comfort zones. No one...

  1. Life begins outside out comfort zones. No one enjoys being uncomfortable. Nature has inclined us only to burn calories when it’s absolutely essential, that’s why we often talk ourselves out of doing things that require effort. Sometimes instead of focusing where we want to go, we have to focus on where we are, and how we no longer want to be there. Everyone wants a fitter body, but not everyone wants to put in the work & diet to make it happen. Everyone wants healthier relationships with their love ones, but not everyone wants to put in the effort to listen and communicate to make that happen. Knowing what we don’t want, in some cases, can be more important than identifying our desires. People settle for various reasons, and in various situations. They settle in their jobs, they settle in their relationships, and they settle for an overall life that has very little resemblance to the one they daydream about; don’t settle, settling is an early death. This doesn’t mean everyone has to throw away the life they have and jump head first off the cliff, it means we need to pay attention to if the life in front of us is matching the one our hearts yearn for. Even if they’re a carbon copy of each other, the only promise is change, so we have to recognize that things can & will change, and living life on auto-pilot just isn’t possible. We need to get used to effort, we need to embrace struggle, we need to respect discomfort, it’s the main recipe in growth. If we want things to be better, we have to do things that are better, no excuses, just effort.
